MICROSOFT'S SIDEWALK.COM PROJECT
When Internet advertising was in the early stages of adoption as a commonplace marketing tool, Microsoft and Cendant Corporation partnered on the Sidewalk.com project. Sidewalk.com sites were created to promote merchants, restaurants, and other local businesses in selected metropolitan markets. A salesforce had to be created from the ground-up to sell the Internet advertising inventory for each of these "local" websites. From the very first trial phases of this project, Sales Aces was selected as one of the primary external agencies entrusted to help build this leading edge salesforce rapidly. Within two years, Sales Aces was responsible for 73 placements in 18 major U.S. metropolitan areas. This number of placements exceeded those of any other external agency involved with the project.
